Fostering with Atlanta Lab Rescue
The main function of a foster home is to provide a safe, loving home environment. This means caring for your foster as you would care for your own dog: offering food, affection, socialization, and exercise to keep the dog happy and healthy.
Important: This section is for FOSTERING ONLY. If you want to foster to ADOPT, which means you have a 7 day grace period with the dog before making a decision to adopt them, please go to ADOPT.
What is ?
- Commit to fostering the dog for a minimum of 7 days (short term holidays/emergency situations available too)
- Provide a 42" Crate
- Provide food (prescription food will be provided by ALR)
- Leash (NOT retractable)
- Provide transport to/from adoption events and possible vet appts (transport available upon request)
- Speak to potential applicants once approved by our adoption coordinator
- Have a plan in your house for where the dog will eat, sleep (not in your bed), etc.
- Help ALR market the dog by writing up a short bio on the dog, as well as take pictures
- Communicate any behavioral or health issues with ALR
- Do not change the dog's name unless you commit to adopting it.

Why Fostering Matters
Fostering saves lives, and creates a bridge between the shelter and the adoption, allowing the dog to decompress and providing the adoption team with valuable information.
