PLEASE READ – Is What You Want, What You Need?
Thank you for entrusting Atlanta Lab Rescue with helping you find your new family member. However, before applying to adopt a dog, we would ask that you seriously consider your WANTS versus your NEEDS, especially when it comes to young dogs that need lots of time and training. Please consider your current schedule, and make certain with job responsibilities and kids activities, that you are also able to meet the demands of your new dog.
If you can provide the special home that a rescue dog deserves, we will find a dog that will be a wonderful addition to your family. The procedure to adopt a dog is as follows:
1 APPLY
Please complete and submit an online adoption application by clicking the Apply To Adopt button or by clicking the Adopt button within a dog’s profile on our Adoptable Pets page.
There is a non-refundable $25 fee to apply. Upon submission of your application, you will receive an email confirmation which includes a link to our PayPal account where you can submit payment for the application fee.
PLEASE NOTE: Your application will not be processed until your application fee is received.
Apply to Adopt2 INTERVIEW
After your application has been received, our adoption coordinator will conduct a phone interview with you to discuss Atlanta Lab Retriever (Rescue) in general and specifically any rescue dogs that would be a good match for you. A home check from one of our volunteers is necessary to complete the process.
3 ADOPTION DONATION
The minimum donation, at time of adoption, for a Labrador Retriever is: $400 for puppies 0-12 months; $375 for young/adult dogs 1 to 7 years; $275 for a senior dog 7 to 9 years; Donations for dogs over 9 years of age will be determined at time of adoption. Adoption donations are non-refundable.
4 HOME CHECK
We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if, in our opinion, the home situation is not compatible with the needs of a Lab. We require that the dog be maintained primarily as an indoor dog and cannot be chained or left unattended in a yard.
We have successfully placed hundreds of Labrador Retrievers in loving homes. All Atlanta Lab Rescue dogs have had a physical exam, are neutered or spayed, immunized, and heartworm tested. Most dogs come to us from homes where there has been a move, a divorce, allergies, or just not enough quality time to spend with the dog. Others come to us from shelters, or as strays.
Our organization is comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing these wonderful Labs placed in loving homes and given a second chance for a happy life.
